Why is protest a human right? | Protests in Iran, China, Mexico, Hungary, Sri Lanka, UK | Amnesty UK

Protest = Progress, people all over the world know this.

In England and Wales, our right to protest has never been more at risk ⚠️

🚨 The #PublicOrderBill has reached the House of Lords.

Protest is a human right- the #PublicOrderBill is incompatible with the UK’s international obligations.

Here are 3 main reasons we oppose this Bill in its entirety:

❌ Stop and search would be expanded- it is already discriminatory against Black people, and this would get worse

❌ The UK govt would have no credibility in calling out other governments’ repression of peaceful protests

❌ Even people who haven’t been convicted of any crime could be banned from attending or organising any protests at all
