Alternative search engine queries still only 1% in the UK

Most internet users stick to Google, despite privacy issues. According to Statcounter Global Stats, the UK’s market share in September 2019 shows that 92% stick to Google, 4% use Bing, 1.6% Yahoo and 1% MSN.

Alternative search engines only 1%

Alternative provider DuckDuckGo doesn’t track users in order to protect their privacy, but is only used for 0.6% of the UK’s search queries. Nevertheless, these figures are increasing. DuckDuckGo speaks of 45.5 million search queries in September 2019 per day. In September 2018 the daily average was only 27.1 million.

Ecosia, who is planting trees for search queries, is also making efforts to inprove their user’s privacy. Ecosia has 0.3% of the market share so far.
