How Oxfam recycles and reuses your donated clothing | Oxfam GB

Every week 11 million items of clothing end up in landfill. Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure on our planet and its people – it’s unsustainable. Now there’s something you can do to help. Join Second Hand September and pledge to say no to new clothes for 30 days.

Wastesaver – Fighting the clothes-to-landfill crisis Drop that jacket, skirt or shirt off at your local Oxfam shop and there’s a good chance it will sell there. But what happens if it doesn’t – is it destined for the bin after all? Thankfully not.

Tonnes of clothing are delivered to Oxfam’s Wastesaver to be sorted and sent to the best places to raise vital funds. No item of clothing donated finds its way to landfill.
