Liberal and conservative justices

Dear readers,

I hope you are fine. Most of you have probably heard about Ruth Ginsburg´s death and now the US needs a new justice for its Supreme Court. All of you know how important justices are in the US. In my opinion it’s important to know if you prefer liberal or conservative justices so I hope I can help those who are undecided to find out in this blog post.

Liberal justices are often associated with the US American Democratic party. In contrast to the conservative justices they are more open minded in many areas, for example on the issue of abortion. Liberals want freedom of choice for women to do what they want with their bodies. They are also for equal taxes among all citizens because they are important for a functioning state and according to the liberal ideology it´s agreeable that rich people have to pay higher taxes because they also have much more income. So, it is crucial for liberals that everything is fair and that everyone can make their own decisions.

On the other hand, there are the conservative justices of the Supreme Court. In some areas they think differently than liberal justices and they are often associated with the Republicans. They are rather closed off and against many new things. Their thoughts on abortion are opposed to the liberals’ as they are typically against it and they self-label themselves pro-life. In contrast to the liberals, they are against taxes because it’s a friction on the economy unless the money is used for the promotion of the military. Finally, they are not very interested in what the people want and their focus is on what is good and helpful for the country.

So, you can see that these ideologies are very different. Its followers behave differently and their ways of thinking are opposed to each other. Whether one identifies more with one or the other ideology is a decision that everyone has to make on their own. It’s okay to not know immediately which side you prefer or to criticize something in each on. To help you find out your preference you can watch explanation videos, read articles or listen to news to collect information. Even though it doesn’t seem important in daily life, it is quite important to know what your political opinion is so you can then make an informed decision at the next election.
