Food waste gets turned into beauty products

The upcycling trend goes beauty care: Instead of dumping food leftovers, the beauty industry gets more and more creative and uses them for their products. Here are a two examples of innovative brands and products:

Used coffee grounds and brewed chai tea spices often end up going to landfill. UpCircle uses them for products like coffee face scrubs or Chai soap bars. A new product is a cleansing face balm, made with the fine powder of discarded apricot stones.

Vegan-friendly Fruu.. uses fruit ingredients for their beauty products like lip balms. Most of the ingredients are produced as a by-product of processed fruit waste.
