A sad day for me as I leave Rann for the last time. I have spent a lot of time in this town in Nigeria and feel very attached to it. Moving between deployments regularly in an inevitable part of being a humanitarian worker, as new needs come up. My deployment in Nigeria has been an unusually long one, and as a result, I feel truly sad to be leaving.

I’m Michelle and I work in Oxfam’s humanitarian team responding to emergencies around the world. I’m originally from Manchester but in the last few years my work has taken me to Yemen, Sierra Leone, Nepal and Iraq. I am currently deployed in a remote village in north-east Nigeria.
Broad Street is my blog I share with four of my other colleagues at Oxfam. Our homes are everywhere from Dar es Salam to Liverpool, and our offices are everything from music festivals to refugee camps. We are campaigners, humanitarian workers, festival goers, dog walkers, fashion lovers, travellers, music fans, cooks & loads more besides. Through our writing and vlogs, we want to take you along with us and tell you about some of the things that make us get up in the morning.
